A custom
designed web site is tailored to your vision, including
your company's color palette, logo, and other graphics. It
may require custom programming to provide specific functionality
that you want your customers

Depending on
the size of the project, a written proposal may be appropriate,
and a phased approach may be in order that requires a Statement
of Work or Requirements Definition and Functional Specifications
Document, followed by a Concept Development phase, a Design
Development phase, and an Implementation phase, with deliverables
provided and payments made at each phase (such projects are
commonly, but not always, responses to Requests for Proposal).
This may be an appropriate option for someone who has an idea
for an Internet pure play type of project, or a bricks-and-mortar
operation that needs tight integration or a database tie-in
to their exisitng web site.
Or, you may
have an existing web site that needs a web development effort
such as adding an editor-controlled/contributor-oriented content
management system, or a chat room, or streaming video added.
